As a learning & development consultant I aim to contribute to a better world. I support people in their careers by helping them experience individual growth and job satisfaction. I also support organisations in providing a working environment that stimulates growth, innovation and change. In doing this I focus on three themes.
Using a strength based approach
In creating learning environments and facilitating learning processes, I tend to look at a team or group from an appreciative perspective, as I’ve found this to be very powerful. Making use of the present capabilities within a team or an organisation gives people energy and strengthens their trust and faith in reaching a desired goal. It can really motivate a team into making the next step by investigating and combining each other’s strengths and drive.
Team development
Together you can reach more. That’s why I believe in the strength of team work. A powerful team gives a boost to the professional development of every member of the team, and to the innovation and execution power of an organization. I facilitate teams in their development, with the aim of being more effective as a team, and also as a professional within the team.
Involved learning
A field that has my attention/passion right now, is involved learning. In this field, foundations/non-governmental organizations bring in urgent, strategic cases/matters/issues that they want to solve. (Young) professionals from commercial organizations work in teams around those issues, commissioned by and in co-creation with the non-governmental organisation. For example, young professionals working at a bank and doing an assignment for a foundation for homeless youth or for Oxfam. As a professional you ‘donate’ your experience and knowledge while at the same time you invest in your own personal and professional development. Participating in such an ‘involved learning’ project, gives the professional great opportunities for growth: they work in a completely different environment/organization, with people that think and act differently, and also with a team of other professionals from their own organization they haven’t worked with before.
Another advantage for the commercial organization is that it contributes to more connectedness tussen the team members and to more innovational/out of the box thinking. To me, supporting this team process is a wonderful job to do. It brings team development, making use of present capabilities and social involvement together in a very powerful learning experience. And it makes my contribution to a better world very concrete.
Joy
It gives me great joy/pleasure to bring people and their interests together, and to me its important to get results together with others. What gives me great satisfaction, is to design a powerful, advised (doordacht) learning environment or experience, in co creation with all the interested parties. This is for me a good way to give space to my creativity. Then, als vervolg, to facilitate the learning process, and to see people grow in their profession, energizes me/gives me energy.
